Aldi taps AO logistics arm for large item delivery

AO will provide large item delivery for discount grocer Aldi through a new partnership.

The electrical retailer will support Aldi’s Specialbuys service, which currently sells wines and spirits online. Over the course of the three-year partnership, AO will also begin to deliver larger products which require two people, including furniture and sports equipment.

Initially developed to deliver its own products, AO now offers its logistics network to other retailers. It covers 95% of the UK.

David Ashwell, MD of AO Logistics, said: “We are extremely proud of the award-winning logistics capability we have built here at AO. There’s no better stamp of approval than other retailers, like Aldi, wanting to partner with us to help them deliver exceptional service to their customers.”

David Barter, MD of national IT at Aldi, said: “Our online Specialbuys are going from strength to strength, and this partnership with AO will allow us to offer customers even more options for our larger products that require home delivery.”
