Huawei launches IoT management platform for logistics

China-based telecoms vendor Huawei has unveiled a new solution that will allow logistics providers to use the IoT to manage and monitor goods in transit.

The Smart Logistics Solution provides companies with a visual interface to digitally manage the arrival, waiting, loading and unloading times of supplier vehicles and schedule docks.

It will also allow companies to monitor the temperature of products in transit.

The platform comprises several connectivity technologies including short-range technologies such as RFID and NB-IoT, which allows sensors to transmit via wide-reaching 4G networks.

Huawei said the platform had already been deployed in several factories and yards. It claimed ecommerce was one of the target markets for the platform.

Honeywell launched a connected freight solution in 2017 that it says will help shippers and logistics companies prevent damage and loss by the monitoring of high-value and perishable goods, whilst in transit.
