Customers choosing click and collect spend 14% more than those that choose home delivery when checking out online, according to a new study.
By analysing data from their UK retailers over a period of 10 months, HubBox found that the percentage increase at checkout varied depending on the product vertical concerned but on average was 14% higher. The most notable uplift was seen in the sports sector where spend was 21% higher and in fashion where it was 15% higher.
Numerous studies have linked the value of click and collect to initial conversion and the delivery option is widely used, particularly at peak when customers want assurance of getting their products when they want them.
However HubBox claims this is the first time that the extra revenue opportunity of offering click and collect over home delivery has been quantified.
“Offering a secure collection option at checkout assuages customers fears that their parcel might end up sitting outside their house or flat or In another unsafe location and could prompt customers to include higher value or additional items in their orders,” said HubBox.
