David Hogg
Commerce Solutions Lead Europe
IBM Watson Commerce

David is the Commerce Solutions Lead for IBM Watson Customer  Engagement in Europe. He joined Sterling Commerce in 2006 and prior to IBM acquiring Sterling Commerce, was the Industry Marketing Executive for Retail/CPG. David has extensive understanding and experience of the global retail industry having spent his entire career buying and selling retail/CPG solutions. He worked for ASDA, Woolworths and Eatons before transitioning to software sales roles.

Over the last 10 years he has worked with major European retail and
distribution companies to re-platform their eCommerce systems and deliver Omnichannel capabilities. He has worked on managed services/cloud based solutions long before the term was ever coined. He has held senior positions with vendors including Kewill Systems and Transora (1Sync), where he was the Director of Business  Development for Europe.

In his previous role at Transora, David created the company’s business strategy to penetrate the European market and to grow their Product Information business with key customers including Proctor & Gamble, Colgate Palmolive, Unilever, Carrefour, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Ahold, Delhaize and Coop Italia.

David has presented at many seminars throughout Europe and Asia Pacific. Throughout his career he has worked with various GS1 committees to develop global industry standards and was involved in the CPG Global Upstream Supply Initiative (GUSI). He holds a BSc in Computing Science and Engineering from the University of Stirling, Scotland. He is a keen Masters swimmer, recently swimming for Yorkshire the current Inter-county champions.
